Let A and B be any two symmetric and skew symmetric matrices respectively. Then which of the following is NOT true ?

Solution

With Aᵀ = A and Bᵀ = −B: , so (1) is true. (AB − BA)ᵀ = BᵀAᵀ − AᵀBᵀ = −BA + AB = AB − BA, so (2) is true.
